| The Basilica dates from the second half of the 2nd century B.C. It housed law courts and business activities. It originally was covered with a roof. In A.D. 62 the roof was destroyed by an earthquake and the Basilica was left as an open air market.

| Temple of Apollo

| This was orginally the most important temple in the city. It took on its present look in the second century B.C; but its earliest phase dates from 575-550 B.C. This statue is of Apollo. This one is a replica; the original is in the Naples Archaeological Museum.

| The Macellum

| The Macellum (means market in Greek) was the main food market. There was a market on this site in the 2nd century B.C. In the first half of the first century A.D., the Macellum was rebuilt.

| Amphitheatre Interior

| Dating to 70 B.C., this is the oldest known amphitheatre. The acoustics are pretty amazing. I could easily hear people having conversations on the other end of the theatre.
