| Description : | The Pantheon. Built in A.D. 117 - 125 by the Emperor Hadrian to replace a temple that was built in 27 B.C. Originally, the Pantheon was a temple to all of the gods. It later was used as a church. The original one-piece granite columns of the earlier temple were reused on the portico. This is the best preserved ancient building in Rome.
